Haven't posted in almost a month, which is probably the longest I've gone without posting here since I started this blog. The reason is that I'm taking a lengthy break from poker; more important things have come up in my life and I just won't have the time.
BBT4 is starting Sunday, as Al has once again come through big time and gotten Full Tilt to put up $30k in seats to the WSOP. Unfortunately I won't be able to play in any of these events, but I will be staking a friend of mine for at least part of the BBT (and no, its not Waffles). With all that extra equity combined with what should be soft fields, I had to get involved somehow.
I've played almost every event in the last 2 BBTs, and it's been a lot of fun. Yet somehow in the past BBTs there's been no shortage of drama. To name a few:
1. lucko getting accused of collusion while abusing the bubble
2. lots of bloggers getting their panties a bunch because someone didn't squeeze out every cent they could when chopping for a TOC seat
3. the infamous ICrushBloggers saga
4. the same tired old posts whining about bad beats and bad play
Most of this drama is just stupid and is a case of people getting way too worked up about nothing (except for the ICrushBloggers thing, Hoyazo was a douchebag and deserved to be called out). But anyways, the point I'm trying to make is that there's altogether way too much whining and complaining. The BBT series is probably the most +EV series of tournaments anywhere in online poker. Most of the participants are small stakes recreational players who should be very grateful to even have the opportunity to compete for WSOP seats. You can certainly put me in that category, I'd never have come close to getting a main event seat if it wasn't for BBT.
Now I recognize that there are only 7 WSOP seats being given out, and quite a few more than 7 players will be competing for them, so there will be a lot of disappointed bloggers. But that's a big part of tournament poker; in every MTT the vast majority of the field doesn't cash, and most of those that cash end up disappointed they didn't cash for more. If you can't handle it, then tournament poker isn't for you. So try to take advantage of the fantastic opportunity Al and Full Tilt are providing. And as lucko once told me when I was playing nitty at a final table, stop being a vagina.
Thanks for reading,
George

I couldn't agree more.
Nice post.
very well said.
looking forward to not having you F up my flow in this round of BBT. a brotha needs every edge.
:)
You're always welcome to play, but the extra +EV with you not there is goot.
Hope things are okay with your personal life. These harsh economic times help to remind us that there is life outside of poker.
I can agree with not potting on the river lol.. But what do you do? Check and someone is gonna jam. I already got over half my stack in ahead on the turn.. any kind of blocker bet is probably gonna commit me to call his raise.. I just really do not know what to do there except fold right out but that seems so weak... arg!
