UB has reached a new low

As just about everyone knows, Ultimate Bet doesn't exactly have a sterling reputation these days. Traffic on the site has taken a significant hit after the superuser scandal that was recently made public on 60 minutes. But as a recent 2p2 thread shows, the hits just keep on coming.

Cliff notes: In a $200/$400 heads up limit hold'em cash game on UB, a player called DoubleBaller was playing against Phil Hellmuth. In one hand, after betting and raising on each street, the board was KKJ92, with no flushes possible. DoubleBaller bet the river and Hellmuth called. Doubleballer showed KQ, and Hellmuth mucked his hand (he had T2). But the pot was shipped to Hellmuth! It's just mind-boggling that a site's software could make a mistake like that.

What's even shadier about the hand though is Hellmuth not realizing a mistake was made until DoubleBaller pointed it out in the chat. Hellmuth even wonders why DoubleBaller won't play him anymore. It doesn't take a genius to figure out why DoubleBaller is quitting a guy who can win showdowns with the worst hand:

Total Pot($5600) | Rake ($1)
Board [Js Kc Kh 2h 9c]
Seat 4: PHILHELLMUTH (dealer) (small blind) won Total ($5599) HI: ($5599) [Mucked] [2s 10s]
Seat 6: DOUBLEBALLER (big blind) HI:lost with Three of a kind, kings [Kd Qh]

It turns out UB refunded DoubleBaller the pot after he complained to support, but Hellmuth comes off looking terrible. If I were playing on a site I represented and some horseshit like this happened, I would immediately transfer the money back to my opponent and demand an investigation into how such a colossal mistake could possibly happen. But that doesn't seem to be Phil's reaction:

PHILHELLMUTH: U wanna play or what?
DOUBLEBALLER: no
DOUBLEBALLER: 5600 pot
DOUBLEBALLER: they are gonna credit it to me
PHILHELLMUTH: I play U limit, right now
DOUBLEBALLER: how the **** can that happen phil??
DOUBLEBALLER: that is such a major error!!!!
PHILHELLMUTH: good thing U found it, no wonder we differed about who was w
PHILHELLMUTH: winning
DOUBLEBALLER: i am just in awe

Now maybe Phil was drunk or doing a bunch of other stuff and didnt notice what was going on, I don't know. But given UB's history, I'd definitely be suspicious of an inside job. Hopefully for Phil's sake he had nothing to do with this, as I don't know how many more scandals online poker can withstand.

Thanks for reading,

George

I'm just sitting here in awe.

How could a company not get this.

Wowwwwww. That's F'ed up. The best part is people continue to deposit there. Why would you even attempt it when there are clearly better sites out there?

Also, the verification word I had to type in was 'woodi'. I found it amusing.

I've had difficulty with both PS and UB flinching and flickering at the end of a hand.

Both have locked up pretty badly at times.

Hellmuth should be somewhat more observant, and honest.

I'd be more inclined to ascribe an angle to him than UB.

That said, UB really needs to do something with that software, expecially in multiway showdown pots.

Its frustrating to be three bets into the next hand before the results of the previous hand show in your stack.
