With so much drama in the BBT....

For those who havent heard, a couple of huge drama bombs have blown up in the last few days. The first one involves Donkette scamming a few of her e-friends:

Linky 1

Linky 2

This drama bomb isnt really very amusing, as its more depressing than anything when someone rips off her friends. However, the second drama bomb is absolute gold. Its got everything you could want: name-calling, flaming, over the top accusations, and most of all, a shitload of unintentional comedy.

This one involves well-known blogger Hoyazo, who played on a secret account throughout a blogger freeroll on Bodog. He also wrote a blog where he anonymously ripped other bloggers. Here are a couple of summaries:

Hilarious over the top rant

More reasonable assessment of the situation

Hoyazo's weak response gets ripped apart

As tempted as I am to just sit back, laugh my ass off at this whole thing, and leave the flaming to others, I feel like I have to weigh in here. Hoyazo's douchebaggery is covered pretty thoroughly in the posts I linked and the comments on those posts, but there's one aspect of it that hasn't been mentioned much, and thats Hoyazo's praise of himself on his anonymous blog. Let's take a look at an excerpt (keep in mind that Hoyazo himself is writing this):

"Along these lines, I have to just mention one of the funnier things I have seen in quite a while in poker blogs. Basically hoyazo went on a sick tear in February, final tabling the fifty-fifty tournament on full tilt twice during the month -- a 1st and a 3rd place for nearly 16 grand between them -- plus also final tabling the 55k on pokerstars for another 4 grand plus. The last of these three cashes was the fifty fifty win last week, where hoy netted over 10 grand. That day or maybe the next, I am doing my daily blog reading and I end up at LJ's blog where the gist of her post is what a luckbox hoy is for winning. Now I read hoy's post and he definitey got lucky during that win. But how on earth do you take a guy who makes 3 major final tables in two weeks and claim he is a luckbox? Honestly, that was one of the funniest things I have seen in some time. How much success does someone have to have before you can admit they seem to know what they are doing better than some other people in poker tournaments?"

Frankly, this is the most pathetic paragraph I have ever read on any blog. He is so insecure, he can't just talk about how great he is on his own blog, he needs to create another blog so he can continue to stroke his own ego. Whats even more embarrassing is that LJ didnt say anything of the sort (here's the post that got Hoys panties in a bunch). She congratulated him on the win and accurately pointed out that there is a huge amount of variance in MTTs and that in order to win a 1,000 person tournament you need a lot of luck. At no point does she criticize Hoyazo as a player or say that she is a better player. But Hoyazo's fragile ego couldnt handle it. I guess he wanted LJ to write that Hoyazo was a poker god who could do no wrong, and that maybe if she played more like him her results would improve. Such a joke. The guy's head is more inflated than Barry Bonds'.

If I ever create a blog where I talk about how great I am in the third person, every single one of you has permission to kill me.

Thanks for reading,

George

Of all the posts related to the Hoy/ICB drama, this was definitely the funniest.

Well said, George. I really don't see the point of turning poker into this kind of a pissing match. I just finished reading 'The Professor, The Banker, and the Suicide King' about the ultra-high-stakes heads-up matches between Texas billionaire Andy Beal and a corporation of poker pros. One of the things that amazed me was how, with very few exceptions, the pros were gracious and respectful in defeat the times they lost to Beal. They even posed for a picture with Beal and all the chips in front of him after he beat them for $7 million!!

Nice post, George. My experience has been that the better poker players, overall, crow about it the least. Let's hope we get past the drama quickly and once again focus on what has brought us together.

btw - A guy with your credentials doesn't need to post in the third person, right?

Good luck representing bloggerdom at the Main Event.

... but I, somehow/someway, keep comin' up with funky ass shit nearly every single day. ...

Enjoyed the post! Especially pointing out that ICB' paragraph that took issue with LJ's February post. LJ's post was nearly a glowing endorsement of one's quality play, and for someone to read that and translate the "jist" as the subject person being referred to as a luckbox is plainly inconceivable!?

I was totally going to create a new blog where contributers could come JUST to make 3rd person references to their own brilliance. I guess I won't bother inviting you as a contributer then. ;-)
(For the record... I jest. Not even my ego requires such a resource.)

Good luck in your upcoming endeavor!!!

Not that I am jumping on the wagon to bash Hoy, but all of his explanations remind me alot of someone's grandmother playing on the other account............

What Pauly said. Now I feel like I know what's been going on. I'm not sure if I liked it better when I didn't, but at least I'm informed.

I'll be going back into my cave now. Peace.
